Old Words

To my reckoning, the oldest yet most salient words we have are from the bible. Forget politics, governments, war and peace and what do we have left? The bible. The question so many want to ask is: Is the bible real and genuinely God’s word? The answer is hard to utter to a person if they are unfamiliar with the bible. The first thing a person needs to prove to themselves is whether the bible is God’s actual words or is it some kind of history passed off as God’s word.

I knew nothing of these arguments at age twelve. There was no internet, certainly, no AI so research for me came from reading the bible. That was around 1960. Over the decades since I have had more than enough time to come to an answer for the above question. Yes, it is God’s word. The odd thing is that one needs to read it, understand all that they can and allow God to work on them from within. This is how we know, we who adhere to God’s word, that we have the distinct honor of having Him give this to us to help direct our lives.

In a way, it is: Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Those who understand the bible from within themselves know it to be truth. Those who tend to want nothing to do with God disallow its reality. Certainly, being all political is not the way to understand as God is not political and actually put forward that governments are temporary and to be obeyed if the laws of said government do not cross God’s laws. If they do cross Gods laws they are to be ignored.

This does not create a free for all to those who understand God. In fact, it makes us compliant to civil law more than most. It could be considered a dichotomy but God already knew this and conformed His laws to be righteous. That they are, but you really need to read the bible to understand any of this. It is a wonderful path, understanding the bible, and then allowing God to help you along. It works beautifully. Almost like it was meant to be.
